The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) began on 1st January 2012 to bring a National focus to the education and care sector. In December 2009, all Australian Governments agreed to a new National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care.


The National Regulations require approved services to have a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). The aim of the QIP is to help providers self-assess their performance in delivering quality education and care and to plan future improvements.
Under each standard sit elements that describe the outcomes that contribute to the standard being achieved. The following is a quick reference guide for educators that lists the standards and elements that apply to each quality area (as of 01 Feb 2018).
