Ever since the first night I met Jean and Buckley I’ve been dying to write this post about them. They were absolutely adorable and I felt an immediate connection to them. It helped that Buckley was wearing a Carolina Hurricanes sweater and I LOVE hockey and the Hurricanes. I had actually just attended my first game of the season a few weeks before I met them, so of course I felt the need to chat them up about that and gush about meeting players and the announcers that we all know and love.
Jean and Buckley are this perfect little Southern couple who found each other and just fell in love. I know it may sound silly, but I asked Jean to tell me the story of how they met and it was as simple as that. I would tell her engagement story for you, but because she does it so well, I’m just going to share her version:
Buckley and Jean were embarking on a 7 day Caribbean cruise, traveling is one of their favorite things to do. Buckley said that they should dress up for dinner every night as a special occasion, Jean having packed 10 dresses did not hesitate to agree. After a fabulous dinner, the two went to the lobby to listen to some live music (another one of the two’s favorite things to do). The sun was setting and Buckley, an avid photographer, suggested they go take some pictures of the sunset. Buckley took a few pictures of Jean to get the settings correct, and then stated he was going to go ask someone to take their picture. Buckley started off down the deck to a very nice fellow. Jean saw how far down this man was and decided to start walking down that way as well, little to Buckley’s knowledge. Jean was not fast enough to hear Buckley nervously ask the man “I am about to propose to my girlfriend, would you mind taking pictures of that?”. The guy excitedly agrees and Buckley turns around to see Jean (still completely unaware). Started off as a normal photo shoot until Jean noticed Buckley was no longer at her height. She turned to see the man of her dreams down on one knee asking for her hand in marriage. Jean blurts out “well of course!!” and then gives the traditional answer of “YES!”. Unbeknownst to the two, Buckley had been in front of the dining room window where the back half of the dining room had witnessed the whole thing! The whole room was cheering and banging on the windows, high fiving, giving thumbs up.
Here’s a few beautiful shots Jean & Buckley’s very talented photographer McKenzie Myers Photography snapped of their fabulous February wedding! The reception took place at The Stockroom at 230 and was catered by Catering Works. The scrumptious and adorable cupcakes were provided by Simply Cakes and DJ Rodney of Anything Music DJs kept the crowd dancing all night long, and the rentals were provided by one of my favorite places, CE Rental.
Thank you to Jean & Buckley for giving me the opportunity to be part of your amazing wedding day. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together and I know that is exactly what you will have!
Oh, and GO CANES!!
